Crafting Heirloom Pieces for Everyday Living

For Us, Woodworking Isn't a Job-It's a Calling Passed Down Through Generations

At ACS Woodshop, we're not in the business of shortcuts. We believe in craftsmanship that holds up to daily life-and stands the test of time. From kitchen cabinetry to home offices, everything we make is built with precision and pride right here in West Virginia.

The Story Behind the Sawdust: How ACS Woodshop Began.

My journey into woodworking started over two decades ago-not in a garage or at a farmer's market, but in the fast-paced world of a major cabinet-making company. There, I had the opportunity to build everything from high-end custom cabinetry to intricate tables and built-ins. It was more then a job-it was where I first discovered the power of working with my hands and the beauty of creating something that would live in someone's home for years to come.

While I was learning the trade on the clock, something deeper was taking shape after hours. I began acquiring tools and equipment to start building furniture for myself and family-simple at first, but fueled by my love of the craft. Eventually, I built my first dedicated workspace: a 10' x 20' woodshop in the backyard of our Baltimore townhome. That small space became the foundation of something much bigger then I could have imagined.

A Family Legacy
Carved in Wood

My first major personal project was a live edge dining table-a gift for my family, and a test of everything I had learned. What surprised me most, though, was how much my wife connected with the process. As I sanded and finished that table, she became fascinated with the design and detail work. Together, we started experimenting with custom wood decor, creating handcrafted signs for our home and for friends.

It didn't take long before word got out. We shared a few of our pieces with friends and family, and one close friend asked for a custom sign of his own, when he shared it on social media, something unexpected happened-orders began coming in. Real orders. From real people. What started as a passion project in a backyard shop had quietly grown into something that felt like a calling.

Proudly Family-Owned. Passionately Handcrafted.

For several years, I worked two full-time jobs: one at the cabinet company, and the other in our little shop. As the demand grew, so did the dream. Eventually, we made the leap. I left my day job, moved our family to a beautiful piece of land tucked in the mountains of Berkeley Springs, WV, and built the kind of shop you've always envisioned-spacious, purpose-built, and filled with tools (and the heart) to do this work the right way.

Today, my wife and I work side by side, blending craftmanship and creativity to deliver custom woodworking that's personal, precise, and built to last. We create heirloom quality pieces for homeowners, designers, and small businesses across the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. We create pieces that hold stories, memories and meaning.

What started with one table built from love has turned into a full time business built on passion.  That same care goes into every single piece we craft-because we're not just building woodwork, we are building something lasting.
